Back On The Road

As you can guess, The Beast is up and running once again!
After a longer wait than I would have liked I got the plug wires from BavAuto.  Popped them on in about 3 minutes, got the air intake reassembled (took it apart for paint but didn't get the chance) and then popped under the car to see if I could locate the vacuum connection.  I was looking for a nipple on the firewall but it turns out that it is just a long, hard plastic line run from under the knee board.  There is a stop on it so that it does not pull through but the line runs a good couple feet through the firewall and up to the bottom of the manifold.

It seems to run slightly smoother with all the vacuum connected but there is still work to be done.  I have not replaced the other lines yet so I will do so with the length I picked up from AutoZone.  I am also going to look into how difficult valve adjustment is as that seems to have a significant effect on the engine in general and I am sure it needs to be done.  Also going to look at the coolant temp sensor and the oxygen sensor.  The CTS is cheap and neither has probably been replaced ever, certainly not recently.

While the car was down I managed to get a couple little things done appearance-wise.  I got the driver mirror and the hood vents off and hit with PlastiDip.  Again, not perfect on the mirror but better certainly.  The vents turned out quite well and I got a quick wash down on the area around and under before reinstalling.  As I mentioned before I took the air intake apart to get it some paint but never got around to doing so.  However, I did manage to get it all apart, cleaned up and sanded down the areas with chipping, peeling paint.  If it isn't raining this week I will probably take it back out, give it a quick wash/prep and hit it with primer and as many coats as I can.  I decided on a semi-gloss black instead of the blue I used on the valve cover.  If I add any more color it may just be blue silicone hoses or something.

No pics of the changes yet, but I should get some up soon.
